Exodus.....let my people go
The Book of Exodus is the story of Israel’s deliverance from captivity in Egypt. It covers the story of the nation of Israel from God hearing their cry to the giving of the Law, the erection of the tabernacle, and the start of tabernacle worship at Mt. Sinai. The Bible's redemptive message is rooted in the book of Exodus. In fact it is the central event of the book of Exodus. Many Bible scholars say that the exodus of Israel from Egypt is the central event of the Old Testament, just as the cross is central event of the New Testament.
The Bible says that the events of the Exodus (wilderness experience) happened as a warning to us today not to carve evil things as Israel did nor worship idols as they did. (1 Cor 10:6) The Bible goes on to say, “All these events happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us, who live at the time when this age is drawing to a close”.(1 Cor 10:11).
Biblical Typology is an important element in the study of Exodus. Once we grasp the abundance and understand the significance of the Biblical typology used in Exodus, the entire Bible message will be more intelligible and specifically we will develop a clear understanding of the Word of God and specifically the book of Exodus.
